Moses on Mount Nebo

Null

Across from us on Mount Nebo, Moses, who is said to be the greatest leader of the People of Israel in forming the nation. The greatest prophet, as it is said: “And there arose not a prophet since then in Israel like unto Moses”

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mount of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is before Jericho; and the Lord showed him all the land .... And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it: ... (Deuteronomy 34:1-4a [Leeser])

Moses is already old, He views the land he wanted to reach and heard the words of God:

“I have let thee see it with thy eyes, but thither shalt thou not go over.”(Deuteronomy 34:4b [Leeser])

After forty years leading and guiding the people, will he not get to see the promised land?

Will he not get to see the product of his mission, its success and its value?

The expression in his eyes viewing the promised land from afar, can be sensed in the tear from his left eye.

Is Moses sad and disappointed?

Is Moses crying in gladness as the primary goal “the children of Israel entering the promised land” has been obtained?
